The food is Germany is fresh and sits light on the stomach. For breakfast I usually indulge in a variety of croissants and coffees offered in my hotel.

I am more adventurous in trying the local cuisine for lunches and dinner. Two delicious German cuisines I tried were pancake soup and bratwurst.
Flädlesuppe, pancake soup, is similar to chicken noodle soup. It adds strips of German pancakes into the broth. It has an interesting texture; however, it is warm and enjoyable :)
Bratwurst is a sausage that originated in Germany. It is also referred to as a "brat" and is a sausage-link typically made from pork. It is usually seasoned, fried, and served in a bread bun.
pizza pizza pizza ! The pizza in Esslingen is very light compared to your typical American pizza. I am able to eat my slices without the chronic tummy pain that usually accompanies it. My top pick is prosciutto pizza, which is thinly sliced uncooked ham.
The hardest part about returning to America was deciding what food to eat. In Germany, I spent most days eating at local restaurants where the food was fresh and left me feeling good. Needless to say, I had a melt down when I had to eat American food again.
A BETTER BREAKFAST
If I'm not eating breakfast at my hotel, I am off to a café that serves waffles and pancakes. The combination of light fluffy pancakes and fruit fills my appetite in a healthy way. The waffles are served with a variety of fruits; your basic strawberries, bananas, and blueberries, but occasionally a little orange tomato and a fig accompanied it! This is my first time eating a fig; it is sweet though the seeds make for a very interesting texture.
DESSERT
If you love coffee and you love ice-cream then you need to try an affogato. It is a scoop of vanilla ice-cream served in a shot of espresso. The bitter espresso is tamed by the sweet flavor of the ice-cream.
