Olympus 10   "OM-10"

This camera has a special place in my heart as I inherited this camera from my mom. She used it to take pictures when she was in college and during the first few years of starting our family. This is actually the camera that got me into vintage film cameras.

1. inserting film

          -open the back

-add new film into the left side, flip black lever over (located on the silver circle on the left) and lift up, place film, put lever back down to secure film in place.

2. pull the film strip across to the right spool, tuck end of film into the little notch, align little holes on top and bottom of film with the ridges on the camera.

3. crank the camera (black lever on the right side) till the film (right spool) is wrapped around. May have to push silver button (right side) (the button that takes the picture) after each crank.

4. crank once and take a picture (the first 1-2 pictures on the film are typically void due to light exposure when inserting film. Thatts why you want to crank and take a picture or two after closing the camera.

5. adjust features based on environment.

          - if outside and sunny:

           - f-stop = 8

           - shutter speed = 80-100

6. Crank, Focus on subject by rotating the lens, push the camera button, and all DONE!

Introduced in 1979. It is light weight and includes minimal functions because it was designed for beginners. It has interchangeable lenses that can be used to shoot from far distances (photographs of the water were shot using a zoom lens).

Cleaning

My OM-10 was very dusty when I got her, but I took water and a Q-tip and cleaned every aspect of the it. It's important to clean the lens to avoid any specs from ruining your photographs. It also good to clean up the insides to remove dust and debris.

Technical Issues

Unfortunately,  my OM-10 has seen better days, and because it is very old, the shutter is sticky.

After a while, majority of my pictures turned out blurry and I have switched to using my Argus.
